I've tried 4 different iPhone compatible earbuds and these are the best!!,
by Adrien Le Biavant, 2010-07-06

I just bought and returned four different earbuds and these were the best. Some of them were not compatible for my Palm Pixie phone, some had horrible sound. Ulitimate ears has waaaaay better sound than any of these below. Great bass response, great highs and mids. They look awesome the button is a little low on the chord sometimes and can hide from you, but works perfectly as does the mic, which noone has complained(and I asked a bunch) even with a little wind. Comfort good. They are worth every penny. the Scosche(not compatible with the palm pixie) make a real good earbud for the price. So if you can only spend less than 50 get those, the sound is great too.

-for the money$120 they had horrible sound, but the track control/play music pick up calls worked perfectly and the button and mic were nicely made. They looked cool, but sounded horrible. I think because the driver is only like 2mm's they had no bass or response. They were $120 and I thought my search was over when I ordered them. I let them burn in and still the sound was poor.

-These are not compatible with the palm Pixie, so I had to return them. Too bad the sound was great, Ultimate Ears is better but really good especially for the price. the tap line and mic seem well constructed and they look cool too.
>Scosche IDR650M Dynamic Range Earphones with TapLINE Control Technology Scosche IDR650M Dynamic Range Earphones with TapLINE Control Technology
-same thing with these, I ordered them both hoping that one of the two models were compatible with Palm phones.

-These worked with my phone but has the worse sound of them all, nuff said.
+Also get a SquareTrade warranty, for a few extra bucks they are the #1 warranty and cheaper that anyone else. I use them for everything electronic and appliance. A no brainer!

Poor sound and comfort,
by inky deeps, 2010-06-15

I really wanted to like these. I thought the reviews about the bad bass were from people who had never used these kinds of earphones and couldn't get them in their ears.

But they don't fit. The tips are too stiff to get a good seal, and they're slightly different from "standard" so none of the replacement tips would stay on.

Very well constructed but the cord is almost too stiff.

But really the worst part about them is the crappy bass response, even if I jam them really tight in my ear and turn up the bass through the eq.

Decent Sound, Poor Fit,
by James R. Spitznas, 2010-04-14

I've purchased a good number of headphones and IEMs over the past few years that range in price from $30 to $400 -- I still have not found a "perfect" pair to use while listening to music on my iPod and iPhone. What I can say, though, is that the audio quality of the MetroFi 220vi's is very good, maybe even slightly better than one would expect for $95; the sound has lots of depth and definition as well as good bass response -- more than I expected in such a diminutive bud. When used to make calls, the calls sounded much better and the mic worked better when compared to the Apple earbuds. I also like the small size and the durable construction. Unfortunately their are several things that I do not like about these IEMs. First is the fit -- none of the supplied silicon tips would fit comfortably in my ear so I had to purchase a set of Comply foam tips. The Comply foam tips both fit comfortably and improved the audio quality BUT the are not as secure as I would like and will loosen and/or fall out of my ear with light activity (e.g., walking). My second disappointment is the cable -- I hate it! The cable is covered in a semi-rigid plastic does not drape with the effect of gravity. Thus if you are sitting reading a book, for example, you will be looking through loops of cord because the cord will not lie flat with gravity; if you are walking, the cord still goes every which way AND it moves about more actively than you do causing lots of rubbing noise that is transmitted directly into your head. Bottom line is that I plan on returning these earbuds because I am rarely completely motionless while listening to music which is pretty much how you have to be to obtain the good audio quality that these IEMs are capable of producing.

Better than expected,
by C. T. ALVAREZ-SANDERS, 2010-04-05

I've had my set for a month now. The sound is great--better than the factory earbuds for certain. They are sound isolating, you can't hear external sound when your listening on these. You don't have to crank up the sound to hear the crispness. The clarity is great. Outside in the wind-like when I'm jogging, you can hear fine and the person you are talking to hears fine also. The ear fit is great--I have small ears so I found different ends to be very nice. I get nothing but excellent reports from the people I talk to. They have told me this is the best set I've owned. I went through a few returns on another product (Klipsch), which was extremely disappointing, but I think I've found a winner, especially for the price. I'm hoping these will last for a while--that is one good thing about the factory set--despite the poor sound-they did last. I'm hoping these will as well. They do come with a case, which I use. Not the best case, but light and portable. It certainly does the job. If your trying to decide on this product, check out their website. It is informative and helps explain the variations of their ear buds--which can be quite expensive. I very pleased with my purchase.

LIMITED MARKET RESEARCH,
by DAVID BRYSON, 2010-02-02

Ultimate Ears are suppliers of earphones to the musical gentry. They owe their market leadership to their reputation for quality, so it was quality I was expecting here.

It was quality that I found, I and a small number of others whom I involved in testing this set. We are none of us experts and we did not carry out anything by way of comparative trials with rival equipment. However what we found was excellent sound-quality and phones that are comfortable to wear. This opinion seems to be in conformity with most other reports that I have seen. Real experts may be a bit more discriminating, but I can't imagine that any ordinary users among the general public are going to be dissatisfied. Provided you think the price reasonable I doubt you will find anything to complain about.

The promotional announcements specify most types of players and receivers (MP3 players etc) for which these headphones are suitable. They have been suggested as suitable for use in the gym, but in case nobody else has mentioned television receptors they are compatible with some of those too, including the TV channels available on the cross-trainers, cycling machines and running machines in my own local gym. MP3 players are so last week.
