Excellent charger, very convenient,

This particular charger works quite well. Had previously purchased this with the full kit, but the charging dock was not working too well. You had to shift the phone around to find the "sweet spot" where it would continuously charge. I've seen other reviews where other folks had the same issue. Unfortunately, I was slow to return my charging dock before the manufacturer's warranty was over.

This replacement works very well - the way it is suppose to. i just put the phone on it and it starts charging. No need to shift around to find the "sweet spot" Plus it's so much easier than having to pop open the plactic cover that covers the jack for the plug-in charger.

 

Palm Pre Plus charger,

This is a very handy and easy way to charge the Palm Pre and Palm Pre Plus phones. I have a Palm Pre Plus (Verizon) so I did not have to buy the back of the phone since it is already set up with the correct back on the phone. Although even at the discounted price I purchased it for, it is still a little pricey, the simplicity of it and not having to continually open and close the charger input, which feels like it is going to break at any moment, makes this a good investment for having on your office or home desk area. Just set the phone on it, it slides down to where internal magnets grab it so its in the right location, and the phone starts charging. Another nice feature is that when in the cradle and you get a phone call you answer, it automatically goes to speaker phone. The only thing I wanted to know if this phone will also work with all the charging mats that are out right now and I can't seem to find a good answer for that on the internet.

I've had no problems using the Palm Touchstone. I've purchased two of them, one for my kitchen and one for my bedroom.

Best charging dock out there, and looks good too!

One note, don't be afraid to use the "adhesive" back on the bottom of the stone. It's not an actual "adhesive", but tiny rubber tubes. If moving it around starts to cause it to loose it's "stickyness", just take some tape to the surface to clean it out.

Note that this is just the stone, so if you have a Pre or Pixi, you'll need to purchase the kit that has the back. If you have a Pre Plus or Pixi Plus, you're already covered (no pun intended)!

 

Touchstone base,

This base works well as advertised. CAUTION - the base comes without the AC adapter nor cable. I bought a second AC charger kit so I had the cabling and adapter for it.
When the Pre is on the Touchstone, the time shows on the Pre in the format you chose for the clock on the Pre.
The phone gets warm, but not uncomfortably. The phone beeps once when you put it on the base, and once again when the Pre is fully charged.
I had a problem receiving this item due to USPS issues - it was mailed from Brooklyn, NY, and I had a tracking number. It went to Maryland, then Connecticut, and finally to my home in NJ, despite having the right address on the package label. There was a scratch across the USPS hash marks which are read mechanically. It took 2 weeks to deliver! Can't blame anyone but the post office for that one.

 

Touchstone Works Like a Charm,

I bought this as a second charging dock for home. I am keeping my original Touchstone at work. Both work perfectly. Basically this item is a secondary Touchstone. You will have to buy an original Touchstone kit that includes the required Touchstone battery cover. Without it, the Touchstone is useless.

Also, you WILL have to buy a second USB cable and plug. This item will not work without them. I had already purchased a second set that was OEM (found on ebay for only $20) and they work together perfectly.

The Touchstone itself allows for easy charging of your Palm Pre. You just set the phone on the dock and it starts charging. No messing with the flimsy USB charging port cover, no messing with connecting a cable. Plus, the way that it is angled while docked allows for easy use!

Such a simple thing is well worth the cost, and I don't know how I will be able to ever go back to a phone that requires a cable to be plugged into it to charge. I'm spoiled!
