I am pretty hard on phones so when I got the OtterBox Defender, it was the best $[...] (in store) that I ever spent. That is until I found the same case on Amazon for half the price. Anyway, aside from the price, the clip on the case from the store did not hold the phone securely on my belt. After I broke the original clip by accident I found this one on Amazon for $15.00 so I got it. It was shipped promptly and arrived before the scheduled shipping date. My phone fits more securely in this clip than it did in the original clip. Now I don't worry about dropping my phone as I move when its clipped on my belt. I would recommend anyone with an iPhone 3G or 3GS to ditch the original clip that came with case from the AT&T store and get this one.

Due to this loose fitting holster I lost my expensive iPhone. The case for the phone is very sturdy and I'm sure has prevented nicks, dents, dings, or breaking of the phone. BUT THE HOLSTER IS LOOSE FITTING; AND I LOST MY PHONE. DO NOT USE THE HOLSTER.

Great Value! Cost way more in the stores! My boyfriend broke his original by slamming it in the car door. It is very durable but don't slam it in the car door, lol! He needs it for work. We both love our Otterbox cases. I am very happy with the quality of their products! And I am very thankful you can buy this separate!

As another reviewer already announced, the Otter Products company has responded to the valid complaints!
Ironically, the only times I've ever dropped my iPhone have been as a result of it popping out of its holster. To its credit, the case definitely did its job in those instances - including when the phone somersaulted down the roof and landed on the brick sidewalk below!
I was about to purchase a replacement, when I saw the other person's post about the warranty replacement. I called them up and spoke with a very courtesy and professional rep who quickly processed my warranty claim and I had my replacement holster on my belt just 3 days later.
The new holster looks virtually identical to the old; however, it squeezes the phone tighter which keeps it very snug. It takes substantially more force for it to pop out now. It also does it's ratcheting rotation a little more easily, which I think is an improvement too.
I would certainly hope that the stock of the holsters being sold here now have been replaced with the improved version. If not, Otter seems very willing to make good on their product. It's so refreshing to see a company treat it's loyal customers right!
