There was only one review here on Amazon for all Clingo products combined when I got the podium stand version of this Clingo "stuff". I found reviews of it on android phones discussion boards and they were all unanimously favorable and full of praise, so just in case it only worked somewhat I did get only the podium stand version of the Clingo for my new Droid X to have a special place on my desk during the day and bedside at night. I have had GPS devices mounted in my cars several ways for many years now and was quite happy with the setup I had untill I got the Droid and before I knew about this Clingo, but my previous setup only worked for the one device it came with, and as we enter the second decade of the 21st century one mount per each device we have just looks silly.
So now that the Clingo podium stand has arrived, my first worry was much more about getting my "consumer device" off of this Clingo thing, cause it seriously looked like it might not come off, ever! Definitely not falling off. Will not pull off either, must be pealed off. I will get one for my car very soon, and maybe a couple of the stands for my 2 iPods (one for music, one for audio books). I am very happy about this because all the other "universal" mounts look bulky and clumsy. Also playing games on my Droid X will be easier with the Clingo stand holding it up so I dont hunch over the Droid, and it will work better then, and instead of, the Motorola docking station too.
Another reason I am very excited about this is because the Clingo podium and/or the stand will make a perfect b-day/Christmas gift for everyone I know who owns a phone, especially those people who already have everything. Next I am going to the Clingo website to see if they have anything written about who and how invented this stuff, it is amazing and fun and just fascinating.
Also, I am not sure why they say it will not work with silicone. Cause I am not taking the silicon case off my phone and it sticks to it perfectly fine. Without the silicon case I would have to worry about Clingo keeping the Droid battery cover when I want to take my phone off of it. The silicone does make it ever so slightly easier to remove the "electronic consumer device" from the Clingo then the metal backing of the iPod does. But I can see that it sticks strong enough to work with the Clingo mount in the car too. When I put the iPod on it it just looks like that's it, forget it - it's there forever and what am I gonna do now? Then you peel it off and it's like, relief... hmm, it really does work, wow, now how the heck did they do that? amazing.
