Stormy Storm,
by Ms. Huggy, 2010-07-09

I purchased a storm 2 in Feb 2010, I just got rid of it Jul 2010. There is quite a bit of Lighting and Thunder in the Storm. The weather was too bad, so I moved to another model. I was excited about the idea of a totally touch-screen cell phone, but it didn't work out for me.

Not perfect but better than many say.,
by Candace Dainty, 2010-05-15

Hi I got my Storm 2 last weekend. Beautiful little phone. My hands are always dry and the phone IS a little slippery.

Now to issues I've read in other reviews--

Battery life- Lith Ion batteries need to be drained completely before recharging and gradually build up a longer charge. The battery recharges very quickly but charging overnight is best.

Reception- I'm in a sketchy area-- lots of bluffs and valleys, many poor signal areas. I had some trouble in the beginning and called my service provider. They reprogramed my phone with great results. On the other side I realized I was blocking the microphone with my little finger-- lol. Also, I needed to hold the phone with the mic away from my face.

Keyboard- OK-- well that's something I'm still getting use to. It doesn't help that I'm a LOUSY typist!

Email- One commentary liked the single mail box on the Storm 2. I did NOT. However- I called my phone provider who connected me to [...] and showed me how to set up my own mailboxes so my outgoing email would be from the person they thought they were emailing instead of "MY Blackberry--"

Hope this helps some folk. CED, WI

Definite PROs-- I'm a Mac user and the Storm 2 screen is like my Apple, smooth flowing and easy to follow.

Phone Locks up - do not take a chance on this phone,
by Coach10, 2010-05-05

After only two months the phone locked up and could not be used. Tried everything with Verizon Tech Support and cannot fix it. Now here is the worst part - if the phone is over 30 days old (mine is 2 months) Verizon sends you a refurbished phone not a new one! Verizon will not let you change the Storm2 for another Blackberry, so you are stuck with the Storm2 for the length of the contract. Therefore after two months I would get a used phone to replace my new one that locked up. If you do business on your Blackberry as I was trying to do, do not take a chance as I did with this phone! I did have a Blackberry Pearl and that worked great; should have not upgraded to the Storm2, stuck with a lemon now.

Bottom part of touchscreen unresponsive,
by R. Chae, 2010-04-14

Before I bought this phone, I heard of previous issues with the first storm. Then I have a friend who convinced me to get the storm 2. He said that blackberry worked out all the problems and this phone was much better. Having the phone himself, he swore that I would love this phone.
Well, only a few days after I bought this phone, the touchscreen became unresponsive.
I returned it and replaced it for another one. I am now kicking myself in the rear to not have gone ahead and exchanged it with a totally different phone. Under two months later, this phone's touchscreen is again unresponsive. Meaning that it is worthless. As for my friend's storm 2. Do a google search on "blackberry 2 unresponsive", and you will see that I am not alone.

Awesome Phone. Minimal Flaws,
by TribeInNinetyFive, 2010-04-12

Pros
- Great touch screen, typing does have a learning curve but is not very difficult.
- Good Resolution,Good size, Great Clarity
- HTML email is great, not sure why the complaints??
- Internet browser is also great, Especially with WIFI. Disabling JavaScript increases speed greatly.
- Not sure why the browser is considered second rate, i can load any page, full html or mobile, with both speed and reliability. Touch zoom and panning is also great.
- AutoFocus Camera
- GPS and turn by turn navigation. Subscription thru verizon or FREE through google maps
- World Phone
- EXTREMELY DURABLE SCREEN

Cons

- BlackBerry App World is overpriced trash, there's no way around this. Terrible apps at a cost that is far greater than the Iphone or Android Market
- 3.2mp Camera is great for my use, however the competition is on to a 5mp camera.
- BlackBerry Desktop Manager is also trash. Removing MicroSD necessary to transfer music.

Conclusion

My previous phone was a BlackBerry 8330 I was looking for a faster phone with more internet capability with the same reliability of a blackberry (both network and quality of phone). This has not been a disappointment in anyway as i had the same complaints regarding app world and desktop manager.
If you want a quality touch screen phone and are more business oriented than play, i would recommend this phone. If you are app obsessed then i would wait for the I-Phone on Verizon in Late 2010.
