Works OK for Droid Incredible,
by Robert L. Gray, 2010-07-27
I bought this for use with the HTC Droid Incredible. Unfortunately, the side clamp blocks the charging port when the phone is mounted. I could have flipped the mount so the base of the phone would project below the side clamps, but I was concerned that torque from the charger cable might cause the phone to pry itself loose from the mount. My solution was to shave off one of the tiny plastic stops inside the base channel so that I could remove the two small sliding tabs. I am now able to center the DI in the mount and easily connect the micro USB charger. Since the phone is typically mounted in landscape orientation for navigation, the absence of the little tabs has not been an issue. Even when rotated into portrait orientation, the mount holds the phone securely. The suction mount is very secure and the safety hook ensures that the weighted base will not launch off the dash. I have a Seidio Innocase Surface with slightly angled edges which causes the phone to migrate slightly within the cushion grips, but it eventually seats into a resting position and seems secure enough. I rated it 4 stars due to the charging port issue, but build quality and aesthetics get 5 stars.
You know you want this!,

Like me, you are probably annoyed by the fact that your phone always rings in your pants pocket or purse while you are driving to and from work. This is the perfect solution with only two caveats. Number 1-Prepare to be grouped with the top 3% of nerdiest people in the world. :) If you own 3 fanny packs, like I do, this will not be a problem. If you have worn a flat top and CS Lewis glasses for years of your life, as I have, you will not be troubled by this. If your wife has thrown away most of your clothes because they have tapered legs, are stonewashed, and wouldn't be purchased by 95% of the general public, then this phone carrier will bring you utmost pleasure. Number 2- The location of the charging port can be blocked by the grip pieces on some phone models, I suppose. As a final note: if you, like me, take videos of yourself while driving (at stop lights of course), just to discuss your musings on the sunrise, the freezing temperatures, mild social irritations, and the din of seemingly limitless host of media misfits, then oh brother are you in for a treat.
Systems are bliss,
video text you later,

Great product,

Bought this for my iPhone. It stays in place and does not block my view when driving. The only think I don't like is the little pegs that hold the phone at the bottom because they didn't allow me to put my phone while plugged in to the car charger. But I was able to place the phone a little higher up so that the charger was resting on the pegs. The phone still stayed in place. The side grips work great. Would definitely recommend this product!
Perfect solution for using a cell phone GPS,
by R. Danziger, 2010-07-03
We're now have two Arkon Weighted Friction Dash Mounts for our two cars. My husband and I both have cellphones with a built-in GPS and this is perfect for using the phone, the GPS, and keeping it plugged in and charging during a long drive. It doesn't slide around the dash and is very adjustable. This is a much better solution than plugging in the phone and putting it in the cup holder to keep it handy. You can't watch the GPS if it's sitting in a cup holder. With this, it sits on the dash like any other GPS. And with one quick touch of a button, the mount releases the phone in case we need to pick it up during the trip.
awesome item,

Bought this for my HTC EVO and it works perfectly. There's only 1 downside, if you turn the holder sideways past 90 degrees the part falls off the stand. Besides that it's perfect for the EVO
